The Durham Symphony Orchestra performs affordably priced and free concerts in a wide variety of community spaces. On Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3 p.m. Durham Symphony is presenting "Spring Pops" at Durham Central Park, 501 Foster Street, Durham, North Carolina. Admission is free. Bring a chair or blanket and join the DSO and your Durham neighbors for a free, family concert of light classics, jazz, and “pops” selections in Durham Central Park! Visit the instrument petting zoo, and enjoy treats from the food trucks (El Jefecito and Pelican's Snoballs) or nearby Durham Food Hall, or bring your favorite picnic from home. Before the Durham Symphony Orchestra starts, enjoy some pre-concert music courtesy of community "jams" from High Strung Violins and Guitars (Irish music at 1:15 p.m. and honky-tonk at 2 p.m.) At 3 p.m., the Durham Symphony Orchestra and Music Director William Henry Curry will take the stage, performing works by Morton Gould and John Williams, as well as selections from "Wicked" and "Carmen," and an exciting new work ("Dark Testament") by Curry.
