Liberty Arts, is a sculpture studio, foundry, gallery and art space. It serves as an incubator in which artists learn from each other. Liberty Arts offers classes in welding, casting, stone-carving, woodworking, plasma-cutting and ceramics. They are known for their work in iron. Each year they hold a public iron pour in Durham Central Park. In addition they host many community events. Third Friday at The Foundry and Durham Food Hall: On Friday, May 15, 2026, Liberty Arts is hosting events at both The Foundry, 528 Foster Street, and Durham Food Hall, 530 Foster Street, Durham North Carolina. The Foundry 6 to 8:30 p.m. Iron Heroes Spring Cohort Pour. Several workshops will be available at various costs. Or just come and watch the aluminum pour and view some art! Join Liberty Arts and the Spring 2026 Iron Heroes cohort for the highlight of their nine week program! Instructed by Tripp Jarvis, this group of five veterans will cast the aluminum sculptures that they’ve carefully crafted this season. Take part in workshops inspired by the program, meet the students and instructor, learn about the program, and support this initiative that connects veterans and youth with creative opportunities! Scratch Block or BOWL Workshop: Carve designs into blocks OR BOWLS of resin-bonded sand. Then watch your creation become a work of art (in the form of an aluminum tile or aluminum bowl!) during a pour in the Liberty Arts Foundry. $85 per block, $140 per bowl during early bird sign up. All proceeds support the continuation of the Iron Heroes Program. Registration required. Mask Making Activity: Paint and personalize your own mask in this workshop that pays homage to the Iron Heroes Program! This workshop is fun for all ages. Use provided paints and decorative materials to make a hero’s mask of your own! Each $10 registration directly supports the program’s continuation. Registration required.
