Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge, at 7236 NC Highway 87 N, in Pittsboro, is a non-profit organization that works to protect animals from factory farms. The Refuge is a sanctuary that cares for rescued chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, goats, pigs and cows who come from lives of abuse, neglect and abandonment. These animals find peace and protection on 16 acres of pasture and woods, where they will be provided with top notch, life-long care. Sometimes Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge offers visits to the refuge and hosts events. We're listing one upcoming event below. Please follow the link for more information. Tour & ExploreSaturday, April 25, 202611 a.m. to 2 p.m.Sliding scale ($5 to $40) Upon arrival, each group will receive a colorful, detailed map of the Refuge grounds. Wander at your own pace along several paths, meeting rescued goats, sheep, ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys, and cows. Knowledgeable Tour Guides will be stationed throughout the Refuge to tell enchanting stories of animal rescues, introducing you to each animal by name. Don’t miss the serene curved brick animal memorial, unique architectural designs, and the beautiful Pavilion, where you can find Refuge merchandise for purchase and learn more about the organization's mission. You’ll also have the unique chance to tour the new Disabled Duck House! Two local vendors, EBN's Vegan Cuisine and Dee's Kitchen, will be on site.
