Pro Tips
The Bottom Line
Falls Lake is Raleigh's backyard lake, and it delivers exactly what families need — swim beaches, camping, boating, and hiking all in one place. It's less of a scene than Jordan Lake, which some families prefer. The proximity to Raleigh (25-35 minutes from downtown) makes it perfect for day trips, and the camping is solid for weekend getaways. If you haven't been, this summer is the time to go.
