Fred G. Bond Metro Park
Bond Park (801 High House Rd) is Cary's largest park at 310 acres. The main playground is shaded with equipment for ages 2-12. There's a boathouse (kayak rentals $5-10/hour), a fishing lake, picnic shelters, and miles of trails (both paved and natural). If you only visit one Cary park, make it this one.Best for: All ages. The playground is excellent for toddlers through 10-year-olds.
Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve
Hemlock Bluffs (2616 Kildaire Farm Rd) doesn't have a playground, but the nature trails and Stevens Nature Center make it worth including. The main loop is 1.5 miles, mostly shaded, with moderate hills. The nature center has free exhibits and animal displays.Best for: Ages 3+ who can handle some walking. Free.
Annie Jones Park
Annie Jones Park (2405 Lions Club Dr) has one of the best toddler playgrounds in Cary β it's enclosed, shaded, and separate from the big-kid equipment. There's also a paved greenway connection and a nice open field.Best for: Toddlers and preschoolers (ages 1-5).

Mills Park
Mills Park (has a large playground, splash pad, and community center. The splash pad is free and open Memorial Day through Labor Day. The playground equipment is newer and well-maintained.Best for: Ages 2-8, especially in summer for the splash pad.
Godbold Park
Godbold Park (2100 NW Maynard Rd) has a good playground, skate park, and athletic fields. Less crowded than Bond Park.Best for: Ages 5-12, especially if your kid is into skateboarding.
Jack Smith Park
Jack Smith Park (1601 Evans Rd) has a playground, disc golf, and connects to a greenway. Nice and shaded.Best for: Ages 3-10.
