Spring Festivals and Outdoor Events in the Triangle
Spring in the Triangle means festival season. From April through June, there's something happening nearly every weekend β food festivals, music events, cultural celebrations, and outdoor markets. Here are the ones worth putting on your calendar.
Major Spring Festivals
Brewgaloo β Raleigh
One of the biggest craft beer festivals in the Southeast, held on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh each April. While it's primarily a beer event, the atmosphere is festive with food trucks, live music, and a street fair vibe. Saturday is the main ticketed event; Friday night preview is often free.Family note: The Saturday daytime hours before it gets too rowdy are manageable with older kids. But it's primarily an adult event.
Festifall β Chapel Hill
Held each October (technically fall, but registration and planning start in spring), this free arts festival on Franklin Street features 150+ artists, live music, and food. One of the best [free events](/free) in the Triangle.IBMA World of Bluegrass β Raleigh
Held each fall in downtown Raleigh, with Wide Open Bluegrass featuring free outdoor stages. The spring lineup of related events starts the buzz. Music on every corner, dancing in the streets, and surprisingly family-friendly.Eno River Festival β Durham
A beloved Durham tradition held each July 4th weekend at West Point on the Eno park. Live music, river activities, local artisans, and a focus on environmental conservation. Very family-friendly with a chill, hippie vibe that feels distinctly Durham.Spring Food Events
Got to Be NC Festival
Held at the NC State Fairgrounds typically in May, celebrating North Carolina agriculture with food vendors, farm exhibits, live music, and kids' activities. Free admission. Great way to spend a Saturday morning.Local Food Truck Rodeos
Durham Central Park and various Raleigh locations host food truck rodeos throughout spring. Dozens of food trucks, live music, and a picnic atmosphere. Check Durham Food Truck Rodeo and Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo social media for dates.Strawberry Festivals

Planning Your Spring Weekends
Spring in the Triangle fills up fast. My approach: 1. Check event calendars for all three cities in early March 2. Pick 2-3 "must-do" events and put them on the calendar 3. Leave room for spontaneous weekend plans 4. Always have a rain backup β spring weather is unpredictable
The best part about spring festivals is that most are free or very affordable. Pack a blanket, bring water, wear comfortable shoes, and enjoy the Triangle's best season.
Spring Festival Essentials Packing List
Going to any spring outdoor event? Bring:
The most important thing: leave room in your schedule for wandering. The best festival moments are the ones you didn't plan for β the random musician who makes your kid dance, the food truck you've never heard of, the artist whose work you fall in love with. That's the beauty of spring in the Triangle.
